Executive Chef Myrna Kallergis and Sous Chef Jake Gober Debut on Season 3 of The Taste

First-Ever Chef Couple to be Featured on the Same Show

AUSTIN, Texas- Dec. 4, 2014- Staying ahead of the curve as Austin becomes a culinary staple, Chef Myrna Kallergis and Chef Jake Gober of Silver Whisk were selected as the first-ever chef couple to be featured on ABC’s The Taste on Dec. 4. The 2-hour show, shot in L.A. earlier this year, will be aired every Thursday at 7pm CST.

Chef Kallergis, also featured as the winner on the Food Network’s Holiday Cookie Contest, was named “Iron Chef Houston” by CBS 11’s Great Day Houston. Today she is a regular on Studio 512 where she shares easy, seasonal recipes. Her Mommy and Me cookbook, a hands-on guide on how parents can get their small children involved in the kitchen, will be released late Feb 2015 in an effort to make cooking an integral part of people’s lives. Chef Gober can also be seen on KXAN sharing his original recipes and will be releasing his book, Texas with a Twist in late Jan. 2015.

Silver Whisk will be hosting a meet and greet with Chef Jake Gober and another contestant from The Taste on Jan. 9. Two other chefs will also make surprise, guest chef appearances in January. For those whose who would like to work hands-on with these well known chefs, several contestants will be conducting cooking classes featuring one of their signature dishes, as seen on The Taste.

 

The chef pair will be introducing mobile cooking classes in 2015 where they conduct the class in your home or at your business. They will also include the option of requesting one of your favorite home cooks or chefs from The Taste Season 3.

Chef Myrna studied culinary arts at the Art Institute of Houston before receiving her four year Communications degree from the University of Houston.

She has worked alongside some of the culinary industry’s top chefs and entertainers including Sara Moulton (Gourmet Magazine, Food Network), Ted Allen (Food Network and Bravo-TV), and Chef Paul Qui (Bravo, Top Chef). Chef Myrna can be seen Tuesday’s on KXAN-TV (NBC) Austin.

Chef Myrna has been a proud participant in the Texas Wine and Food Foundation’s Tour de Vin, The Austin Wine & Music Festival, and number of other food festivals across Texas.

Currently, Chef Myrna is working on her first cookbook with her 3 year old son, Ari. It will be. It will have Ari’s favorite recipes to enjoy and make at home with his mom and family. The chef is still working on a title and her book should be out March 2015.

ABOUT JAKE GOBER

Culinary Manager & Sous Chef / TV Personality

Chef Jake Gober fell in love with cooking at a very young age by watching his grandmother in the kitchen. He then began working in kitchens at local restaurants in Graham, Texas where he was raised. Jake got in the kitchen as early as he could and happily did any and every job in the kitchen. He worked his way up to a line cook and then decided he wanted to make cooking his professional career.

Jake Gober attended and graduated culinary school at Le Cordon Bleu in Austin, TX where he discovered the Silver Whisk Cooking School and found a passion for teaching. He will be releasing his first cookbook entitled, “Texas with a Twist.” In this book, he’ll be making his  favorite meals with his own Texas flare, available January 2015.
